NMC warns students to verify medical colleges before admission
The National Medical Commission has advised students and parents to verify recognition of MBBS institutions before admission, following Supreme Court directions.

The National Medical Commission has warned students, parents and the public about institutions offering MBBS without required recognition, approval or permission. Rising Kashmir reported from Srinagar on November 6 that the advisory follows Supreme Court directions in an ongoing case. Families are urged to confirm a college's status on the NMC's official list and check its permission for the relevant academic year. Where colleges make sweeping claims about training or hospital infrastructure, the advisory recommends physically inspecting the premises. Suspected forgeries, unauthorised courses and misleading offers can be reported to the NMC.
For Indian hospitals, the advisory reinforces an earlier NMC point: only colleges on its official website may legally offer MBBS and other medical degrees. Foreign graduates who fail to meet NMC rules may be disqualified from registering to practise in India.
