Health Ministry reviews PM-JAY and ABDM with states, sets roadmap
The National Health Authority reviewed Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission with states in Kolkata on 5 and 6 November.

The National Health Authority, under the Union Health Ministry, held a two-day National Review Meeting in Kolkata on 5 and 6 November 2026 with officials from States and Union Territories. Sessions reviewed progress under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, and set priorities for the coming phase. West Bengal joined PM-JAY as the 36th State. The meeting also reviewed the National Health Claims Exchange, and a convergence session explored how states could use the NHA's IT platform. It closed with a shared roadmap and a call for stronger Centre-State coordination.
For hospitals, the notable element is the stress on ABDM-enabled hospital information systems, which the meeting emphasised as needed for integration across PM-JAY empanelled hospitals. The report gives no timelines or new operating rules, so practical effects on facilities are not yet clear.
