Gujarat has inaugurated 255 newly built healthcare facilities and laid foundation stones for 45 more projects. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel led the virtual inauguration on Saturday. The combined cost is Rs 532 crore, including Rs 185 crore for the completed facilities. Ahmedabad is set to host a 521-bed Institute of Neuroscience and Research Centre, estimated at Rs 223 crore, on the Civil Hospital campus.

The institute is planned with 13 operation theatres designed to international standards and neurology and neurosurgery departments. Its 521 beds include 160 intensive care beds, and the centre is expected to serve patients from Gujarat and neighbouring states. A dedicated spine hospital is also planned within the complex in coming years.
