Gujarat Announces ₹500 Crore+ Healthcare Infrastructure Push

Gujarat has announced healthcare projects worth more than ₹500 crore across the state.

The development includes 255 newly constructed healthcare facilities and foundation-laying for 45 additional projects.

One of the major projects is the Institute of Neuroscience and Research Centre at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, being developed at an estimated cost of ₹223 crore.

The proposed institute will have a capacity of 521 beds, including 160 ICU beds, along with 13 operation theatres.

It is planned to provide specialised care for conditions including stroke, brain tumours, neurological disorders, spinal conditions and cases requiring neuro-rehabilitation.

The wider healthcare push also includes strengthening healthcare facilities at the local level, with the aim of improving access to diagnosis and treatment closer to patients’ homes, including in remote areas.
