Doctors Ki Kahani

He failed his first DM Cardiology exam. Then he made history.

He failed his first DM Cardiology exam. Then he made history.

What does success really look like?

For Prof. Dr. Tejas M. Patel, it is not a story of winning every time.

It is a story of failing, learning, showing up again and pushing medicine forward.

From losing his mother at a very young age to being shaped by his father’s discipline, from failing his first DM Cardiology attempt to becoming one of India’s most respected interventional cardiologists, his journey was never linear.

A patient’s trust gave him the courage to perform his first independent angioplasty.

Years later, he went on to create history with remote tele-robotic PCI, taking Indian cardiology to the global stage.

But perhaps the most powerful part of his story is his humility.

Even after Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and global recognition, he still believes:

“We should never try to become God. We are only an instrument.”

This is not just a story of medical excellence.

It is a story of failure, resilience, gratitude, innovation and staying grounded through it all.
