From a ₹35,000 farm income to founding Vedant Hospital
Doctors Ki Kahani, Medvyn Ki Jubani | Ep. 3
Some stories begin with opportunity.
Dr. Amit Nakum’s began with struggle.
Growing up in Bhanvad in a farming family, there were years when the family’s annual agricultural income was around ₹30,000 to ₹35,000 while his school fee alone was ₹60,000.
A few hours of hard work in the fields became a turning point. He decided that day that he wanted to become a doctor.
Years later, while working at a government hospital in Khambhalia, he faced another moment that stayed with him forever. A critically ill patient needed to be referred, but there was no ambulance available in the entire town. The patient could not be saved.
That day, Dr. Amit Nakum made himself a promise.
Today, three ambulances serve people across Bhanvad, Dwarka and Khambhalia, without discrimination and without charge.
From becoming the founder of Vedant Hospital and serving more than 1 lakh patients to supporting the education of 60 girls through a trust named after his mother, his journey is about more than becoming a successful doctor.
It is about remembering where you came from and giving back when you finally can.
