Nine Indian anaesthesiologists, doctors in Stanford’s 2026 top 2% scientists list

Medical Dialogues reports that nine anaesthesiologists and doctors from India's health and medical institutes have been named on Stanford University's 2026 list of the world's top 2% scientists. The list draws on a database curated by Professor John P.A. Ioannidis with Elsevier, and the reported subfield for this group is anaesthesiology. One listed doctor is Dr Priya Ranganathan, a professor at Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai who works in thoracic anaesthesia.

The ranking uses citation-based indicators such as the h-index and a composite c-score, and selects from the top 100,000 scientists or those at the 2% percentile rank in a subfield. Medical Dialogues' separate coverage of the 2026 edition notes that 1,251 Indian clinical medicine scientists appear among the top-cited researchers. For hospitals and medical colleges, the listings reflect published research influence over time, which the source links to pioneering research and sustained impact in the field.
