Delhi raises medical seats, adds doctors and nurses, and expands hospital capacity
Delhi's chief minister said the government is expanding hospital infrastructure, adding medical seats and bringing in doctors and nurses in the capital.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Tuesday, 3 November, that the government is widening healthcare infrastructure, expanding medical education and adding medical staff. MBBS seats in medical colleges are rising from 595 to 820, and postgraduate seats from 553 to 762. A medical college is being developed at Indira Gandhi Hospital in Dwarka at a cost of Rs 805.99 crore. Over 1,200 nurses and 954 senior resident doctors have been appointed, and more than 4,000 new posts have been approved.
For doctors and hospitals in India, the announcement points to a larger pipeline of MBBS and postgraduate trainees in Delhi. Gupta also cited 415 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, 29 Jan Aushadhi Kendras and more than one crore ABHA IDs, and said the Digital Health Management System is running in 38 government hospitals. The report does not give dates for when the new seats or the Dwarka college will open.
