Patna Surgical Conference Opens With Live Minimally Invasive And Robotic Demonstrations
Patna hosted the opening day of a three-day surgical conference on 23 October, featuring live minimally invasive and robotic operations.

Surgeons began the 45th annual meeting of the Association of Surgeons of India in Patna on 23 October 2026, staging operations live at Urja Auditorium. On day one, roughly 15 procedures touched the gallbladder, abdomen and digestive tract. Dr Lakshit Tomar, from New Delhi, performed a laparoscopic gallbladder operation, while Dr Rajesh Srivastava, from Vapi in Gujarat, showed several approaches to hernia repair. Dr Manish Mandal said the workshop also included discussion of technique and the challenges it presents.
The meeting runs until 25 October and was expected to draw more than 500 surgeons, with sessions on robotic surgery and AI-assisted procedures. Organisers listed more than 150 research papers and over 30 lectures for young doctors. Earlier coverage said IGIMS was expanding robotic surgery, with surgeons in training.
