After seeing patients lose their sight while waiting for treatment, Surat doctor Bhavin Patel takes eye care to remote villages

Surat-based retina specialist Dr. Bhavin Patel is taking eye care to remote villages across Gujarat to help prevent avoidable blindness. After witnessing patients lose their sight due to delayed treatment, he established an outreach initiative that conducts nearly 40 free eye-screening camps every month and has facilitated over 30,000 free surgeries. The initiative also arranges hospital treatment for patients who need specialised care and supports visually impaired people through rehabilitation programmes.
